Ek ek din udashin
(translator: Anupam
Banerji
Saumen Sengupta Excellent!  A very lucid and an appropriate rendition of this piece by Anupam Banerji is a gift to all of us  this is sufficient unto itself. It is such a joy to read, to flow with it, to settle in its charming exposure as it occurs flirting with time and space.
Kaal (Eternity)
(trnslator: Dipak Basu)
Anupam Banerji Incredibly rich translation. Perfect selection of words to further embellish and endow the original for vivid imageries. This translation creates that very rare literary ambience where there is intoxication without hang over, exhilaration without decadence-- an astonishing feat indeed! Aspiring translators, please take note!!

Autumn Song Lalita Pandit AUTUMN GUEST

An Autumn day.

Who is it that has come
to my doorstep?
O! heart! Sing the song
Of joy!

Give voice to the muted tale
of today's blue sky
tremblings of dew drops becoming
early frost --
let the strings of your vina
sing their agony.

Lend a measure to the swaying of every leaf
And sheaf, in the wind, over field
And meadow.

Awaken desire in stainless
waters of the river:
let them rise, in sounds of musicbecome mad, like you

Shall I drink deep, then
with my eyes
the pleasure of looking
at your face, my Love!

Take your hand in mine;
open the door,
step out to walk away with you
Break the chains!
