You are there and so am I
We shall not create on earth a make-believe heaven
Fraught with melodies and soulful themes.
We shall not, my Love, seek bliss even,
In Cupid’s frolicsome extremes –
We shall not capitulate meekly to the Fate and cry.
We have no fear, we know – you’re there and so am I.
We shall carry the banner of love on our perilous journey,
Taking on challenging tasks at relentless pace;
harsh times would hurt us – so may it be.
We shan’t want peace, nor ask for solace.
If the ocean wrecks our ship and rips the sails, if we
die,
We shall face Death, knowing you’re there and so am I.
Together we have perceived the world, at each other we’ve
gazed.
Across the blazing sands, we have travelled together.
Neither mirages charmed us, we were unfazed,
Nor have we soothed the mind with false platitudes ever.
Throughout our lifetime, we shall walk with our head
held high.
May this phrase be exalted, dear,
‘You’re there and so am I’.
